Nov 10, 2014 Scrolling using the trackpad on my Mac is unresponsive in word. It works fine in PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. I am not sure when this occurred, but since I have noticed it has been driving me crazy. If anyone has a solution for me I would greatly appreciate it!

I HAVE THE ANSWER!Well, this worked for me, anyway.Since I updated to Word version 15.24 recently, when I either start up or quit Word, I get the error describe: 'compiler error in hidden module: link'.The reply given above by Steve Fan is what led me to find the solution, but didn't work in itself.

Use Force Quit when an application is unresponsive. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu or press Command+Option+Esc keys. Click the name of the deviant application (it probably has not responding next to its name). You typically won’t have to reboot.
Restart. If Force Quit doesn’t bail you out, try rebooting the computer. If a frozen Mac prevents you from clicking the Restart command on the Apple menu, hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Control+Command keys and then press the power button.
